new year, new books

Three new photobooks now available on eve!

In the documentary style so characteristic of British publisher Dewi Lewis, we offer two distinct but complementary perspectives on London. Moon City by Mimi Mollica + Near Dark by Chris Dorley-Brown both present almost cinematic portraits of a complex, contemporary London. PLUS: a beautiful photographic testament to the South Sudanese people.

Moon City

Moon City explores the silent dialogue and underlying tension between two forces at play — the ancient pull of the Moon and the restless ambition of London’s financial skyline — a quiet meditation on nature, capitalism and the spaces in between.

All copies of Moon City are signed by the photographer.

Our verdict? "A glorious, richly hued dystopian London, mixing the vibes of Brave New World + Blade Runner for this digital millennium." the eve team

Near Dark

Photographed in London, Near Dark ventures into a mysterious territory, reflecting a less harmonious city mood, a fever dream of anxiety and unpredictability. London is just as alluring as ever but now everyone is taking shelter, keeping out of sight.

With an introduction by BJP editor Diane Smyth.

Our verdict? "A London many of us know well, yet somehow more beautiful + more Orwellian. Grittier + more nostalgic than Mollica's Moon City. Buy both." the eve team

Unyielding Floods

For Unyielding Floods, photojournalist Peter Caton spent four years chronicling historic floods in South Sudan that simply will not recede. His beautiful images capture both the struggle + the dignity of those enduring them.

The images that Peter has captured are a heartbreaking reality for the people of South Sudan, one that deserves greater public awareness.

Our verdict? "A beautiful celebration of the dignity + resilience of the South Sudanese people." the eve team
